My wife and I have eaten there on several ocasions. Service is mixed. One time we sat at our table for 30 min before I had to go up front to see if we could get service. after that the snooty waitress served us quickly but without a smile. Other times the service was great..good food but a little stiff on pricey. you take your chances with service.
Horrible service! We ordered and appetizer and did not receive our food for more than an hour. We ended up leaving and expressed our complaint to the manager and she was very rude and said that it was not her fault! We will never go again, and we always tell people not to go there.
My boyfriend and I planned a special Valentine weekend in Wilmington. It included dinner at The George on the Riverwalk. We made reservations and looked at their online menu. Once there we decided against specials for the night for we both wanted steak and seafood. We chose ribeyes and oysters/shrimp. Our ribeyes were awful. Tough and full of grissle and fat. The seafood was great but we didn't get much of it. We both agree that we will not patronize The George again. Sorry!
The best time and food to eat at The George is Brunch! Their crepes and bananna walnut french toast is amazing. Their dinner is not very impressive. A little over priced without the menu being special. Like I said, the brunch menu is great and the view is amazing.
My wife and I had dinner there on July 4 and we had a great time!! The food was fantastic and my server was very friendly and nice. I posted already so see the one below. Just want people to know that it was great!!
The last time I went to this restaurant with a friend, we were served the wrong drinks originally without us knowing (we were trying a few different martini's). We liked one of the drinks so we ordered two more of that one and got two more of the other one. After asking again for two more of the one we wanted, and describing how the first one looked, we got the wrong drinks AGAIN. This time the manager came over and acted like it was our fault that we kept getting served the wrong drinks. At this point we told the manager what we had tried to tell the waitress, that we thought they initially switched our drinks, which they DID, and we finally got the right drinks. This wasted our time and was very frustrating since the manager acted like it was our fault when it was either the waitress or the bartender who messed things up from the very beginning!! The food was alright but overall the service was terrible and it was not a busy night for them. I'm all for paying good money for a good meal but this experience was not a good one and I won't be going back.
Been there twice, BOTH times the service was horrible. Incredibly slow, and we were the only ones in the restaurant. So no excuse of being busy could be used. Then they weren't even appologetic about how long it took! I would NOT reccomend eating there.
I was concerned about my Valetine's evening reservation after reading the other reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. The wait staff was very friendly. We arrived shortly after 6 and had our hot food 20 minutes after placing our order(and yes the restaurant was packed). The food was delicious! The atmosphere was very nice. Sure the food was a little pricey but that seems to be the norm for the area. I would definitely recommend The George.
Yes this is definitaly a place, where you get a view and that is about it. The food is slighly overpriced, the food itself is ok, but the service is horriable. I honestly believe the owners are to cheap to hire enough waitstaff/cooks. Watching the waitress(as in one) hustle to try to please many tables at once is painful. The food is to simple that my wife and I ordered to take as long as it did to make. This can only be caused by over worked cooks. If you are a tourist its great, because you go in there and have no idea, what you are getting, but its not a place for locals.
The food was weak, the service was very slow (waited an hour for our food), and the follow up service was abysmal.
I left my wallet at the restaurant and didn't realize it until I returned home. I called the restaurant and the person who picked up the phone (I'll call her the hostess for lack of a better word) said that she will check and call me back. I told her the name of our waitress and that we had been seated inside. I waited around 20 more minutes and called again. The hostess said that she hadn't had time to check as they were too busy and that she will check soon and call me back. My wife called after another 20 minutes (I was too busy cancelling my credit cards) and the hostess said that they were too busy and that we would have to come to check ourselves.
Thoroughly irritated at this point we drove back to the restaurant and I saw the waitress (who was actually pretty good) who immediately gave me back my wallet. As to how "busy" they were, I saw two tables with customers inside and a sea of empty tables. There may have been more full tables outside but I really didn't care at that point. If they had told me when I first called that I needed to go there I would have gone immediately and not cancelled my cards. By prolonging things over the course of 40 minutes, consistently telling me that they would check and call me back, I made the decision to cancel to go through the hassle of reporting my cards missing and having to request replacement cards.
The slow service during dinner coupled with the terrible service provided by the hostess was shocking. When my wife had called the third time she asked to speak with the manager and the hostess refused, saying that they were too busy.
Needless to say, I won't be going back to The George. Losing the wallet was my fault; their poor service in response was theirs.
